Alfa Romeo 164 Dash Light Replacement

I wrote an article around the year 2000 about replacing the lights in the center console that light up the various switches for heating, cooling, fan speed, etc.

It also covered replacing the lights in the gauge cluster console.

So far, I can't find my write-up to paste here, but basically for the center console switch lights, just remove the whole unit, remove the back and you'll find a motherboard like in a computer, with small lights attached. The small light replacements were found at a Radio Shack, and soldered into place with a low-watt low-heat soldering iron if I recall. It didn't take long at all and all the switch lights worked great afterward. These little bulbs were approximately 1 watt if I recall - I will see if I can find the spares I have and take a look, and add it here if I find the wattage on them. They are small but easily handled to solder into place.

For the gauge cluster lights, The cluster can be removed and light sockets removed and new lights inserted like most cars with larger 2 or 3 watt bulbs (standard auto turn signal or dash bulbs from the era.

If I find the article and photos I will post there here!
